Phonograms: We are starting to work through all 70 phonograms each week. We recommend choose a few each night to review with your scholar.

Spelling Test on Friday!
Your scholar will be participating in discussions about defining new vocabulary based on text context, answering comprehension questions, and checking their predictions.
We will be finishing up our Charlotte's Web this week just in time for our Literature Celebration on Thursday October 27th.
Reading Log:
Each day, students will bring home a book of choice from the GHNO classroom library. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult.
Each day please log:
1. The title of the classroom library book read.
2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum).
3. Parent initials confirming minutes read.
Please make sure your scholar is reading and this log is filled out and turned in on Mondays.
It will be counted as a quiz grade.
Your scholar will be learning about what is a preposition, what is an object of the preposition, and what the difference between prepositions and adverbs.
Math:
Your scholar will be reviewing adding fluency with renaming in ones and tens based on place value. A review will be sent home Monday night to review with your scholar. A good review strategy is to have your scholar explain 2-3 problems and have them explain the process they got to get the answer. Please sign and return. (The review is for a grade.)
The scholars will be finishing the Ancient China Unit. They will be learning about the Chinese New Year and create lanterns!

Help your scholar at home start practicing this poem. They will have to recite the title, authors and poem in-front of their classmates.
