Quarter 1 Week 6

This week we will be learning:

Spalding:
Phonograms: we are reviewing these this week (g, h, i, j, k, ay, ai, oy, oi, er, ir, ur, wor, ear, or).

Spelling Words: become, class, horse, care, try, move, delay, pound, behind, around, burn, camp, bear, bare, clear, clean, spell, poor, finish, hurt, maybe, across, tonight, tenth, sir, these, those, club, seen, see
Spelling Test on Friday!

Don't forget your scholar has Spalding homework Monday-Thursday.
It is located inside their red folder.

LiteratureCharlotte's Web, all students should have copy of their own.

Your scholar will be participating in discussions about discussions about comprehension questions, predictions, point of view, and identifying elements of a story: characters, setting, plot, beginning, middle, end.

Reading Log:

Your scholar started coming home two weeks ago with their reading log. Each day, students will bring home a book of choice from the GHNO classroom library. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult.
 
Each day please log:
 
1. The title of the classroom library book read.
2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum).
3. Parent initials confirming minutes read. 
 
Please make sure your scholar is reading and this log is filled out regularly. It will be counted as a quiz grade

Grammar:
Your scholar will be learning and discussing about singular and plural nouns, common and proper nouns, and 3 main types of sentences.

Our current phrase: Better Late Than Never 


Math:
Your scholar will be completing chapter 1. They will review all concepts taught like place value, number patterns, and counting money.  Each night there will be homework they are using that strategy they learned that day.  When the review comes home on Thursday, please review any concepts your student may be struggling in.

Math homework pages that need to be completed can be found inside your scholars agenda.


Science:
We will be finishing our Properties of Matter Unit. 

            Properties of Matter Test: Wednesday September 26th. 

History:

Ancient India Study Guide was sent home Wednesday, September 11th.

Ancient India Unit Test: Thursday, September 19th.
