Hello Second Grade Families,
Fall Concert:Will be happening THIS Friday, 11/14. Please refer to the email from Headmaster Mitchel for more information such as concert etiquette, dress attire, and location/ arrival times. Students are asked to be at Trinity Baptist Church by 5:10pm. No water bottles or jackets will be allowed and must be kept with parents. The best view will be diagonal or across from your homework section. Have your scholar use the restroom beforehand, as there will not be time once we begin. Thank you!
Content Corner This Week:
Math -
Scholars this week will be reviewing the foundations to renaming in a given addition problem. They will be using number bonds, base-ten blocks, and place value chart. Alongside they will be learning how to write and show their work in a vertical equation.

Phonograms: We are starting to work through all 70 phonograms each week. We recommend choosing a few each night to review with your scholar.

Scholars will be learning how to identify prepositions. They will be looking at different example sentences and looking at how to find these prepositions.

Unit: Culture of Japan / Starting: Ancient GreeceScholars will be learning about the geography of ancient and modern Greece. They will also have a little introduction to the city states of ancient Greece.

Unit: Organism and Their Habitats
Project Guidlines:- Your student has been assigned an animal or insect to do research on their life cycle.
- All students have been provided a manilla folder (pamphlet folder) in addition to blank copy paper they can use to draw and list their details.
- You project should only be of the animal you were assigned.
- The project can be as creative as you would like! Words and pictures can be either handwritten/drawn or printed to be included on the pamphlet.
- Must have:
- The type of animal.
- Facts about its habitat and a picture of its natural habitat.
- The life cycle must be shown in pictures with each stage properly labeled and in correct order.
- Facts about the animal's basic needs.
- Include on the back of pamphlet any resources used either books or online.
Literature -
Will be reading Courage of Sarah Noble Chapters 9-11.They will be reading and answering comprehension questions with each chapter.Scholars will having their first seminar of 2nd Grade. They will be answering questions in complete sentences, using text evidence and listening to others to better understand the story.
Reading Log-Each day, students are reading a book from their home library for a minimum of 20 minutes. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult.

2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum each night).
3. Parent initials confirming minutes read.
Please make sure you scholar is reading each night and this log is filled out and turned in on MONDAY.
