Content Corner This Week:
Math -
Scholars this week we will be starting our next unit covering Subtraction. We will be learning the why behind renaming and looking at 3 different strategies to help us understand the foundations of subtraction.

They will be using a hands on approach with using base-ten blocks during each days lesson.

Spalding -
Phonograms: We are starting to work through all 70 phonograms each week. We recommend choosing a few each night to review with your scholar.

Grammar -
Scholars will be learning how to identify prepositions. They will be looking at different example sentences and looking at how to find these prepositions.
Prepositions: a joining word, it joins the noun to the rest of the sentenceObject of the Preposition: always comes after the prepositions and answers
History -
Unit: Ancient GreeceScholars will be learning how Sparta and Athens were sometimes enemies. Students will compare the lives of the children and defend their thoughts on which city-state they would rather live in during this time period.

Science -
Unit: Exploring Land and WaterStudents over the next few weeks will be taking an adventure across the United States to visit different natural parks and visit land formations that can be found there! This week will be looking at Mount Rushmore and the effects that water and ice as on it. Then we will visit Yellowstone and National Glacier Park.
Unit: Exploring Land and Water
Literature -
We will be starting our unit on Greek Myths. This ties in perfectly with the Ancient Greece unit in history right now.
Prometheus and Pandora, Demeter and Persephone, Arachne the Weaver, Theseus and the Minotaur
Reading Log-Each day, students are reading a book from their home library for a minimum of 20 minutes. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult.
Each day please log:1. The title of the book from home.
2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum each night).
3. Parent initials confirming minutes read.
Please make sure you scholar is reading each night and this log is filled out and turned in on Thursday.
