Phonograms: We are starting to work through all 70 phonograms each week. We recommend choose a few each night to review with your scholar.

Your scholar will be need the next classic to keep Little House in the Big Woods.
Due: Monday, February 3rd
Each day, students will bring home a book of choice from the GHNO classroom library. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult.
Each day please log:
1. The title of the classroom library book read.
2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum).
3. Parent initials confirming minutes read.
Please make sure your scholar is reading and this log is filled out and turned in on Mondays.
It will be counted as a quiz grade.
Your scholar will be reviewing parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions). They will learn how to identify subject pronouns within a given sentence.
Your scholar will be review the concepts of vertical subtraction problems they have been learning about. For example, renaming in the hundreds, tens and ones place. They will also be introduced to related addition concept where three numbers can be used to different locations of the problem.

Your scholar will be taking their unit test over The Constitution. We will starting our next unit in history learning about the War of 1812 and how it shaped the United States during that time.
Study Guide was sent home on Wednesday, January 15th
Your scholar will be finishing the science unit on Exploring Land and Water by exploring the sand dunes and beaches. Also, they will be learning about two female scientist Marie Tharp and Eugenie Clark and how they helped us learn more about the ocean floor and marine biology.

Exploring Land and Water Unit Test on January 31st
Your scholar will be practicing at school but we highly encourage parents to help their scholar practice each day at home. Making sure that they are showing expression, following punctuation, and saying the title and author.
