Phonograms: We are starting to work through all 70 phonograms each week. We recommend choose a few each night to review with your scholar.

Your scholar will keep reading the classic to keep "Little House in the Big Woods" this week. They will be working on reading comprehension skills, listening skills and answering questions about the text. Analyze the character's feelings/actions and how they respond to events in the story.

Each day, students will bring home a book of choice from the GHNO classroom library. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult.
Each day please log:
1. The title of the classroom library book read.
2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum).
3. Parent initials confirming minutes read.
Please make sure your scholar is reading and this log is filled out and turned in on Mondays.
It will be counted as a quiz grade.
Your scholar will be identifying different parts of speech within a given sentence. They will also be practice creating their own sentence making sure the word they choose matches with the part of speech.
Your scholar will starting our next unit on Chapter 5 covering length and measurement. They will be learning how to use a ruler for centimeters and a meter stick.
CUMULATIVE ASSESSMENT #2 on THURSDAY, MARCH 6TH
Please make sure your scholar is completing their math homework nightly when assigned.
We will also be continuing our new unit on the civil war. They will be learning about Harriet Beecher Stowe, Harriet Tubman, and Abraham Lincoln and the reason why the war was about to start.
Your scholar will be continuing our unit on Electricity and Magnetism. They will be able to observe and explore how magnets work and what uses them in everyday life.

Your scholar will be practicing at school but we highly encourage parents to help their scholar practice each day at home. Making sure that they are showing expression, following punctuation, and saying the title and author.
