Phonograms: We are starting to work through all 70 phonograms each week. We recommend choose a few each night to review with your scholar.
Spelling Review Words: contain, figure, sudden, instead, throw, threw, press, use, person, mean, small, smaller, smallest, personal, everything, rate, chief, perfect, second, slide
Cursive: All Spalding assignments are to be done in cursive!!
Spelling Test on Thursday!
Your scholar will continue Boxcar Children. They will build their reading comprehension by defining new vocabulary bases on context, answering comprehension questions, and checking their predictions.
Each day, students will bring home a book of choice from the GHNO classroom library. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult.
Each day please log:
1. The title of the classroom library book read.
2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum).
3. Parent initials confirming minutes read.
Please make sure your scholar is reading and this log is filled out and turned in on time.
It will be counted as a quiz grade.
Your scholar will listen and discuss the story read to them. Then students will write a summary about the story in their own words while using complete sentences with details from the story and referencing comprehension questions for guidance. They will also continue practice to pronouns and labeling parts of speech within a sentence.
Your scholar be starting their next unit in math: Time. They will reading and write the time using an analog clock. They will write time to the hour, nearest 5 minutes nearest minute, and use AM and PM when looking at an activity.
CUMULATIVE ASSESSMENT # 3 on Tuesday, April 15th
Your scholar will be coming their unit covering Immigration and Citizenship on Monday. Then they will be starting their next unit covering Civil Rights Leaders.

Immigration Project Due: Thursday, April 24th (This is a test grade)
Your scholar will be identifying and demonstrating how to use, conserve, and dispose of natural resources and materials such as conserving water and reuse or recycle of paper, plastic, and metal.
Recycle Project Due: Wednesday, April 30th
Your scholar will be practicing at school but we highly encourage parents to help their scholar practice each day at home. Making sure that they are showing expression, following punctuation, and saying the title and author.
