Quarter 4 Week 6

 Monday, April 22nd 

This week we will be learning:

Spalding:

Phonograms: We are starting to work through all 70 phonograms each week. We recommend choose a few each night to review with your scholar.

Spalding Words: slide, farther, duty, intend, company, quite, quit, quiet, summer, above, none, knew, know, remain, direction, direct, appear, express, turn, lesson, liberty, enough, fact, board, September, station, attend, friends, friend, until

Cursive: All Spalding assignments are to be done in cursive!!

Spelling Test on Friday! 

Don't forget your scholar had Spalding homework Monday-Thursday.
It is located inside their red folder.

Literature: 

Your scholar will continue Boxcar Children. They will build their reading comprehension by defining new vocabulary bases on context, answering comprehension questions, and checking  their predictions.

Reading Log:

Each day, students will bring home a book of choice from the GHNO classroom library. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult

Each day please log:

 1. The title of the classroom library book read.

 2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum).

 3. Parent initials confirming minutes read.

Please make sure your scholar is reading and this log is filled out and turned in on time. 
 
 
It will be counted as a quiz grade


Grammar:
Your scholar will listen and discuss the story read to them. Then students will write a summary about the story in their own words while using complete sentences with details from the story and referencing comprehension questions for guidance. They will also continue practice to pronouns and labeling parts of speech within a sentence. 
 
Math:
Your scholar will be learning how to tell time to nearest minute and telling time before and after the hour on an analog clock. The scholars will be taking their Unit 7: Time test this week. A review will be sent home on Thursday, please review and practice with your scholar. 

Review: Thursday, April 24th (Please review, sign, and return) 

Unit Test: Friday, April 25th
 

  Please make sure your scholar is completing their math homework nightly when assigned. 
 
 
History:
 
Your scholar will be taking a short pause on learning about the different civil rights leaders to do a review for their Immigration test. They will also be presenting their Immigration projects to their classmates on Thursday.

IMMIGRATION UNIT TEST on Friday, April 25th 

Immigration Project Due: Thursday, April 24th (This is a test grade)  


Science:
Your scholar will be completing a review about natural resources we have been learning about. Please review, sign, and return for their test on Wednesday. They will be starting their next unit that is covering the moon. They will be observing, describing and recording patterns of objects in the sky, including the appearance of the moon.
