Phonograms: we will review these this week (er, ir, ur, wor, ear, aw, au, ck, wh, ed, ew, ui, oa, gu, ph).
Spelling Words: became, brother, rain, keep, start, eye, I, mail, male, female, glass, party, upon, they, two, twin, twice, twelve, twenty, & between.
Spelling Test on Friday!
Don't forget your scholar has spalding homework Monday-Thursday.
It is located inside their red folder.
Literature: We will finish Elmer and the Dragon on Wednesday and start Dragons of Blueland on Thursday, please email your teacher if you do not have a copy.
Your scholar will be participating in discussions about authors purpose, character traits, and the differences between persuade, inform, and entertaining reading passages.
On Thursday, your scholar will begin Dragons of Blueland. They will bring Elmer and the Dragon book home on Wednesday.

Grammar:
Your scholar will be review synonyms and antonyms, summarizing, and copywork. They will also practice alphabetizing, nouns, verbs and adverbs. They will also by learning how to label subject nouns and verbs.
Math:
Students will be practicing counting on and number patterns. They will take their first unit Quiz on Tuesday.
Any assigned workbook pages will be listed in the agenda.
History:
Your students will be bringing home their first unit study guide on Monday. The Geography of the Americas will be on Wednesday, August 28th.
Poem:
The Cow to be memorized by September 6th
Your scholar is required to speak the title and author of the poem and recite the poem from memory in front of their classmates.
*Please help your scholar memorize and recite the poem while at home.*
Reading:
Students will be bringing home their second reading log on Monday. They should be reading 20 minutes a day. We will be sending home leveled readers next week. Until those readers come home, your student may pick a book of their choice. These reading logs will be checked daily and then collected on the first day of each week and counted for a test grade.
