WE ARE CONTINUING THE FOUNDATION OF CURSIVE!!
Phonograms: We are starting to work through all 70 phonograms each week. We recommend choose a few each night to review with your scholar.

Spelling Test on Friday!
Your scholar will be continuing the classic to keep "Little House in the Big Woods" this week. They will be working on reading comprehension skills, listening skills and answering questions about the text. If your scholar has not brought their book to school send it with them this week.
CLASSIC TO KEEP NEEDED:
Reading Log:
Each day, students will bring home a book of choice from the GHNO classroom library. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult.
Each day please log:
1. The title of the classroom library book read.
2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum).
3. Parent initials confirming minutes read.
Please make sure your scholar is reading and this log is filled out and turned in on Mondays.
It will be counted as a quiz grade.
Your scholar will be review different parts of speech and labeling them within a sentence. The parts of speech are pronouns, subjects nouns, adjective, verb, adverb, article adjectives, prepositions and object prepositions. They will also be learning what a possessive pronoun is and how to label it within a given sentence.
Your scholar will learning about bar modeling using addition and subtraction word problems. Along with learning how to draw the bar model to match the information given in the word problem. There will be sent home a review on Thursday, please review with your scholar, sign and return.

We will also be continuing Americans Move West. They will be learning about the Oregon Trail, The California Gold Rush, and The Pony Express this week!
Your scholar will be starting a new unit covering Electricity and Magnetism. They will be able to tell the difference between static and current electricity. They will also be investigating different ways that they can see static charges with different items.
Your scholar will be practicing at school but we highly encourage parents to help their scholar practice each day at home. Making sure that they are showing expression, following punctuation, and saying the title and author.
