Spalding

 Welcome to the Spalding page!

Our 2nd Grade team wants to provide as many resources to support student learning at home as we can! We have created this page in order for parents to have an easily accessible collection of resources for Spalding. For those who are new to Spalding or are still struggling to understand some of the aspects, you are not alone!

Homework Expectations:

Each day, Monday-Thursday, Students will have Spalding Homework. Please dictate the listed words to your child according to these instructions.

  • Parent says the word, then says the word in a sentence, then says the word again.
  • Student says the word, then writes the word, markings, and rules, if present, without looking at the key provided. Student should separate syllables and use their best handwriting.
  • Parent helps student make corrections, immediately, before moving to the next word.
When you complete the list for the first set, your child will fold their paper so the words do not show. Repeat the process 1 more time, however, on this set, students will only write the word normally, without markings, rules, or syllabication. They will still make corrections after each word if necessary.

If your student forgets their Spalding Home work at school, we recommend reaching out on the grade-level Facebook page. We are extremely blessed to have a parent community that is very supportive!

Here are copies of blank homework paper if you would like to have some on hand
