2nd Grade Field Trip this Thursday, April 3rd to the Natural Bridge Caverns
This week we will be learning:
Phonograms: We work through all 70 phonograms each week. We recommend choosing a few each night to review with your scholar, specifcally those found in the words of the week.
Spelling Words: catch, catcher, black, warm, unless, trophy, voices, voice, began, begin, begun, able, suit, eight, ate, afraid, gone, go, done, do, track, uncle, rather, comfort
Cursive: All Spalding assignments are to be done in cursive!!
Spelling Test on Friday!
Your scholar will start our next classic to keep "A Cricket in Time Square" by Garth Williams. Scholars will be identifying setting and character motives (character traits).
Each day, students will bring home a book of choice from the GHNO classroom library. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult.
Each day please log:
1. The title of the classroom library book read.
2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum).
3. Parent initials confirming minutes read.
Please make sure your scholar is reading and this log is filled out and turned in on Mondays.
It will be counted as a quiz grade.
Your scholar will chorally respond to the question answer flow along with the class while labeling the parts of speech in a given sentence. They will also be looking at a sentence and seeing if they are able to identify the mistakes of capital letters and end marks.
Your scholar will be finishing our Chapter 5 Unit on Measurement and Length on Tuesday. We will be starting Chapter 6 Unit on Multiplication!! This unit is taught different than normal multiplication in 2nd grade it is taught as repeated addition.

Unit Test on: April 1st
Your scholar be starting their next unit in history over Immigration and Citizenship. They will be learning why people came to America in the first place and what it was like arriving in America. There will be a special project that goes with the unit, please look forward to an email with further information.
The Civil War Study Guide was sent home on Tuesday (3/28) and returned to school Wednesday with a parent signature.

Your scholar will starting a new unit on science covering Human Cells and the Digestive System. This week they will be learning about how cells work together, the 4 different types of tissues, and how tissues make up different organs in our body.
FIELD TRIP on Thursday April 3rd
