Quarter 1 Week 5

Monday, September 11

This week we will be learning:

Spalding:
Phonograms: we are review these this week (b, c, d, e, f, sh, ee, th, ow, ou, oo, ch, ar, ng, ea).

Spelling Words: 
July, even, without, afternoon, Friday, wife, safe, hour (The hour is 9am), our (our class is best), head, story, open, short, lady, reach, better, water, round, cost, price 
Spelling Test on Friday!

Don't forget your scholar has Spalding homework Monday-Thursday.
It is located inside their red folder.

LiteratureDragons of Blueland, please email your teacher if you do not have a copy.
Your scholar will be participating in discussions about comprehension questions, predictions, point of view, and identifying elements of a story: characters, setting, plot.
Students will need Charlotte's Web on THURSDAY!!

Grammar: 
Your scholar will be learning about adverbs, article adjectives, and types of sentences (declarative, exclamatory, interrogative).They will also be reviewing the phrase "You can't teach an old dog new tricks".

 

Math:
We will be reviewing place value (hundreds, tens, ones), base-ten blocks, number line, number patterns, skip counting by 2s, 5s, 10s, 100s, identifying bills, and  exchanging bills for fewest about of bills. 
 
MATH TEST ON WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER  13TH

History:
We are continuing our unit on Ancient India. The scholars will be learning about the Festival of Lights, the story of Buddha, Jataka Tale, and King Asoka. 

Poem
Where go the Boats due September 27th
 
Your scholar is required to speak the title and author of the poem and recite the poem from memory in front of their classmates.

*Please help your scholar memorize and recite the poem while at home.*
