Hello Second Grade Families,
Can you believe it that we only have two weeks left in Quarter 1 already? Your scholar has already learned so much this school year and will continue to grow as the year continues.
Sweaters: As the weather starts to change, students may start to bring more sweaters to school. With the weather still warm, we are asking students to leave their sweater in the classroom; however, as it does start to cool off, it will be their responsibility to keep up with it. We will give plenty of reminders to keep up with them and to remember to get them from their desk/cubbies at the end of the day. Please double check that the inside of your child's sweater is labeled with preferably first and last name and class/section, so it can be returned if lost.
Snacks and water bottles: Reminders: Please make sure that your child's snack is one, small and healthy snack. We ask that the snack does not require utensils and that your child only drinks from their water bottle during this time (no juice). Our snack times are short and having your child's snack packed separately in the backpack (not in their lunch box or bento box) helps the 'grab and go' process, as well as easy unpacking it into the cubby in the morning. Make sure to send your child with a reusable water bottle. It is hot outside, and we do allow them to take it outside during recess time, as well as use it during snack time/lunch.
Parent Teacher Conferences: Please note that parent/teacher conferences will take place October 13-15, during Fall Break. Sign-up links will go live here soon and be sent out by GHNO. We highly encourage all parents to sign up to talk about their child's progress so far, to hear how they are interacting with their peers everyday, and to express any concerns that you might have.
2nd Grade Charlotte's Web Literature Celebration: Our first celebration is coming up next month on October 28th. Please look for an email coming from your child's teacher here soon!
