With only two weeks left in the quarter, the 2nd grade team wanted to send some reminders to families. 

1. Please check and remove all toys from student back packs. This includes playing cards, plastic figurines, and small trinkets.

You may reuse shits if you have a student in a repeat city state, but the shirt needs to match the class they are in.

This week we will be learning:

Spalding:
Phonograms: we are review these this week (l, m, n, o, p, aw, au, ck, wh, ed, ew, ui, oa, ph, ough)

Spelling Words: pass, shut, easy, ease, bone, cloud, draw, drink, garden, goose, hopping, hop, knife, mouth, oak, peach, pole, queen, rope, felt, full, fail, setting, set, stamp, light, coming, come, night, pass
Spelling Test on Friday!

Don't forget your scholar has Spalding homework Monday-Thursday.
It is located inside their red folder.

LiteratureCharlotte's Web, please email your teacher if you do not have a copy.  Charlotte's Web Celebration: October 31st. Sign up will be sent on 10/3. 

Your scholar will be participating in discussions about defining new vocabulary based on text context, answering comprehension questions, and checking their predications.

Reading Log:

Each day, students will bring home a book of choice from the GHNO classroom library. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult.
 
Each day please log:
 
1. The title of the classroom library book read and/or other books read.
2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum).
3. Parent initials confirming minutes read. 
 
Please make sure your scholar is reading and this log is filled out and turned in on Mondays. It will be counted as a quiz grade

Grammar:
Your scholar will be reviewing for a unit test. They will review Sentence Labeling, Pluiral vs. Singular, and when to use A vs An.   2A & 2B will take the test on Thursday, 9/26, due to library days and 2C & 2D will take the test on 9/25.

Our next phrase: Cold Feet


Math:
Your scholar will be learning strategies of adding to 20. They will be experiencing hands-on learning with the strategies of counting on and making ten.

Math homework pages that need to be completed can be found inside your scholars agenda.

History:

Your scholar will be starting the Ancient China Unit this week.

Science:

Your scholar will take their Properties of Matter Test on 9/26.
