Wow! Quarter 2 already! This week is a 4-day week. Signups for conference week close at noon on Thursday.
This week we will be learning:
Spalding:
Spelling Words: buy, by, stopping, stop, walk, talk, chalk, soap, news, new, small, smaller, smallest, war, summer, above, express, turn, lesson, half
Spelling Test on Thursday!
Don't forget your scholar had Spalding homework Monday-Wednesday.
It is located inside their red folder.
Literature: Charlotte's Web, Please email your teacher if you do not have a copy.
Your scholar will be participating in discussions about defining new vocabulary based on text context, answering comprehension questions, and checking their predictions.

Reading Log:
Each day, students will bring home a book of choice from the GHNO classroom library. At home, students will read this book aloud to an adult.
Each day please log:
1. The title of the classroom library book read.
2. The total minutes your student spent reading (20 minutes minimum).
3. Parent initials confirming minutes read.
Please make sure your scholar is reading and this log is filled out. It is checked daily and turned in on Mondays.
It will be counted as a quiz grade.
Grammar:
Your scholar will be learning about the complete subject and the complete predicate and working on labeling these in their sentences. They will also be practicing summarizing and copywork.
Math:
Your scholar will be reviewing addition strategies (making 10 and doubles). They will also be learning how to add 3-digit number and 2-digit numbers without renaming using mental math strategies.
Science:
The scholars will be learning about organisms and their habitats. They will have science homework on Thursday night.
History:
The scholars will be continuing their Ancient China Unit.
Poem:
Something Told the Wild Geese By: Rachel Field - Due week of Nov. 4th.
Help your scholar at home start practicing this poem. They will have to recite the title, authors and poem in-front of their classmates.
